Restoring Your Confidence. Restoring Your Smile

The advances in dental technology - in materials, procedures and equipment - have provided us the professionals with a range of solutions for patients requiring restorative or  reconstructive dental work. It begins with traditional fillings then dental bonding, porcelain inlays and onlays to replace older silver fillings, crowns and dentures. In line with our philosophy of only offering the best solutions and only working with experts in their field, our crown veneers are designed and manufactured in an Australian laboratory using the world’s leading technology. Three dimensional CAD software is used to design the veneers, a computer controlled 5-axis milling machine makes them from environmentally friendly materials, and the surfaces are scanned to ensure smoothness by complex laser scanners.”

Restorative dentistry is used to repair:
  •  Cracks and holes
  •  Fractured and dissolved teeth
  •  Heavily damaged or filled teeth
  •  Missing teeth
It can also be used to correct a bite or for cosmetic reasons.

Restorative dentistry involves a range of solutions:

Fillings

Typically teeth require a filling to repair a crack, fracture, tooth damage or the dissolving of a tooth by decay.
In the case of decay we clean the area and remove any diseased or infected parts of the tooth before filling the hole.
Depending on the amount of tooth damage, and your preference, there are several materials to choose from:
  •  metallic filling (amalgam)
  •  tooth coloured filling
  •  inlay and onlay
  •  dental bonding (cosmetic resin)
  •  crown veneer

Metallic & Tooth Coloured

Probably the most well known type is the metallic or amalgam filling. These are silver in colour.
Tooth coloured fillings, also known as composite resins and glass ionomer cements, are popular because when you smile there is no obvious indication of you having any fillings at all. The material used hardens by itself or when a bright light is placed near the filling during your visit.
The filling can be shaped to match the profile of the original tooth before it was damaged.

Inlay & Onlay

When a large filling is required due to the size of the hole or a tooth is required for chewing we have the option of inlays and onlays - or conservative indirect restorations.
Inlay Before Inlay After
These are a lot stronger than conventional fillings. One example of this is with back teeth (molars) which have been heavily filled with large silver fillings. They can be at risk of fracturing and a tough inlay or onlay will preserve the remaining healthy tooth structure.
An inlay or onlay can support what is left of a tooth so that it can still chew food.

Dental Crowns

The strongest type of restoration is a dental crown.
A crown is an artificial cover over the surface of the tooth and is generally recommended when the tooth has suffered a lot of damage or has a lot of fillings. Crowns are also made sometimes for cosmetic reasons or to correct a bite.
Using engineering 3D software, computer controlled manufacturing and laser scanning you can have a crown custom made for your tooth and restore it to its original shape and size.

Dental Bonding

If you have a small gap, a tooth with a chip or jagged edge, or a slight blemish on your enamel these can be quickly and effectively restored by using dental bonding.
A putty-like material called composite resin is used to fill the gap or complete the proper shape of the tooth.
The dental bonding is available in a range of shades to match the natural appearance of your teeth thus becoming “invisible”.

Dentures

A traditional method for replacing missing teeth, dentures are artificial teeth inserted into the mouth.
In order to easily insert and remove the dentures from your mouth we shape the neighbouring teeth. There can be discomfort with dentures and they are not all that aesthetically pleasing because they are not identical in appearance to the teeth alongside.
